Q: need advice on how to fix a rusted frame on a 69 mercury cougar?
ive looked at several times and seen that at some spots the frame as layers of rust in the frame . is this fixable ,replaceable or should i just sell it ?

A: A 69 Cougar doesn’t have a frame. It’s a unibody vehicle. Anything is fixable, by the right person, with the right equipment. Whether it is worthwhile, and how it would be done would require much more info than you have presented.

Q: Mercury Cougar 69 XR7 parts, anyone know where I can buy reproduction lexen dash gauge lens?
Looking for new repro parts for convertible Cougar 69, can’t find these gauge lens.

A: Try Cascade Classic Mercury Cougar Parts, Hemmings Motor News. They may have a Cougar part supply co. listed. Hope this helped.

Q: Basic Upgrades on my ‘69 Cougar?
I’ve got a ‘69 Mercury Cougar with a 302 Engine that I just bought off of someone. Everything in it is stock (Hubcaps, Interior, Etc.) And I’m just wondering, what basic upgrades (cosmetic or functional) can I make that will make the coug-nut look/run its best.

Anyone have any advice?

A: First let me drool on the screen here. LUCKY person. That was a great car. If you find you don’t like it, I’d be glad to take it off your hands!! LOL

My advice is simple. DO NOT CUSTOMIZE. You have a very rare (these days simply due to its age) collector’s car. Clean it up and keep everything as original as possible. They were good running cars from the factory and a good tuneup (I’d put in an electronic ignition set up that fits under the stock distributor cap to eliminate the points.) will make it purr. If you want an after market sound system, make sure you keep the old one for reinstalling if you ever decide to sell it to a collector. The same for more power. If it has the 2 barrel carb, you can pick up a 4 barrel with intake manifold and a set of headers and swap them as the mood hits you. (basic bolt on pre smog with the same linkage used for both if memory serves.) If it had stock dual exhaust, great. If not, you might get away with installing a factory type dual system, but a serious collector would spot that as not original equipment for that particular car. Don’t forget the tranny. Have it checked and preferably get the fluid/filters changed and get it adjusted.

Q: Can I fit 18X8 in rims on my 2000 Mercury cougar V6?
Here are the specs of the rims I am looking at and I want to know if they will fit on my car?
Description:
Finish: Painted/Machined
Size: 18 x 8 in.
Center Bore: 72.69 mm
Bolt Circle: 4-4.5 in.
Off Set: +40 mm

A: That guys answer is not necessarily true, i have a 2000 cougar, and i put 18’s on mine. No weight, just get low pro tires, they bolt is 4×108 on mine, i dunno if those will fit, sometimes at rim shops they look up a certain rim and say they fit your cougar, but ends up not fitting, i went to a store to put my rims on my car and i could only choose from 3 kinds of rims, its cause cougar are tuner cars, that sucks huh?

Q: what do i do for a car?
well im supposed to get my dads jeep cj-7 im really attached to the car but my problem is im not sure i really truthfully want a jeep and if i dont take it he’ll probably sell it. im really interested in this 69 mercury cougar for the same price and its really nice. i dont know what do you think?
also interested in this 72 plymouth duster twister thats a little nicer than the mercury

A: I have a 1969 Cougar myself. I don’t think I have seen a Duster that was nicer. Parts are not all that hard to find. Most of the running gear is the same as a Mustang. I would recommend one over the Jeep. The comment about it “crapping out” comes from one who is no mechanic and has no love of the classics.

Q: Where are the numbers on a Ford engine block that matches the VIN number.?
My girlfriends 67 Mercury Cougar is supposed to have a 4V 289 engine. The engine code says it’s a ‘68-’69 302, but I’ve heard for is notorious for using whatever is available. Usually there’s a code on the engine that matches the last five digits of the VIN number to tell is the engine originally came with the car. I don’t know where to find it on a FoMoCo engine, I usually deal with old Ponchos.

A: Those years the only thing I can tell you is
F in the vin means 302
H is 351
S is 500
A is 460

Q: Which WWE Superstar has the Coolest Car Collection?
We All Know They All Have Some Sick @ss Rides , But Who Has The Coolest Collection?

*EDIT* – SD! Hotel!! – I See. Gotcha.
Good to Know.

A: Oh, no question about it, John Cena. On his DVD “My Life” I just sat and stared when I watched the third disc about his car collection.
Man, that disc was over an hour and a half but I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen.
Some day man…some day…

Q: Domestic Muscle vs Import Tuners Why and Why not?
Okay guys and gals this is for all of my var nuts out there. First and formost PLEASE do not start autobashing and bringing negative comments on my page, lets be adults about this.

Okay I’m a 29 year old Black male that was born into American Muscle by way of my father and uncles. My dad over time who owns his own body shop as collected several very popular muscle cars which are all in running condition because of the money he has put in them along with his mechanic know how lol! The list goes as thus alothough I can’t give the year of all of them but i’ll give some.
SS Nova 60’s
SS Monte Carlo 80’s
SS Impala Sport 64
Monte Carl two door coupe late 60’s
Ford Cobra 2
86 GT Mustang 302
89 GT Mustang
and the Big Baby that he will pass down to me in his will his favorite
Ford 69 Mach 1 Stroked

My dad even had a very nice green mercury cougar when the were popular and considered muscle cars, but as of now i’m really into the Imports, German and Japanese cars.

All of them are amazing in their own right as Sportscars and can do some amazing things with amazing looks to match. Today the American car companies still have some of the baddest street cars on the planet but are also lacking in some ares as well. I want a sportscar that can do it all but at a reasonable price, lets say under 60 grand. Most imports are better in handling than American cars and are alot more fun at the price range to push around the curves of a race track or curvy street.

So i’m posting this question to you all today
1. Which do you prefer Import Sportscars Tuned or Domestic Sportscars Tuned and why ? Explain without any bashing!

2. Do you prefer a Sportscar where it can do it all peform amazingly in a straitline as well as in the curves or only in a straitline?

3. If you built a Sportscar What make, Model will it be ? And will it be able to perfom on the Atlanta dragstrip or The Japanese Togue or Both?

Me Personally! I love my American Muscle as well as my European Exotics, and My Japanese speed deamons! I just love Sportscars!

A: My answers:

1. Which do you prefer Import Sportscars Tuned or Domestic Sportscars Tuned and why ? Explain without any bashing!

I grew up with Muscle cars. My dad was always working on his 64 Nova…I also grew up on Smokey and the Bandit….Mustangs, camaro, firebirds, GTOs, 57 Chevys…I love them all…But just as equally, I love my 96 Eclipse. I’ve been a huge fan of Mitsubishi since I first saw an 84 Starion. I love sport compact cars, heck I even like the Subaru WRX…

2. Do you prefer a Sportscar where it can do it all peform amazingly in a straitline as well as in the curves or only in a straitline?

I Prefer overall performance. A car needs to handle as well..otherwise any old box with wheels can have a huge engine and go from point a to point b with little excitment.

3. If you built a Sportscar What make, Model will it be ? And will it be able to perfom on the Atlanta dragstrip or The Japanese Togue or Both?

If I were to build a sports car now? I’d take the 09 Eclipse and throw in the Evo’s Turbo charged engine and AWD and remake the GSX for 2010. (Mitsubishi does have a prototype Eclipse Ralliart with a Evo engine and AWD)

Find great deals and more information about the Plymouth cars! At your favorite automotive site amcarguide.com

Q: How many 3rd generation Plymouth Barracuda cars are left today ?
Only takes a ‘Cuda fanatic to ask that, besides that the body-worker that a friend of a friend has…owns one and in here (egypt) it’s a big WTF to find one

Anyway, i heard on Nash Bridges the part where Don Johnson says there are only 7 of those left in the world and i don’t remember where but it was said there’s only 14

I’m talking about the 3rd generation E-Body Barracuda so how many are really left these days ?

A: The only good newas I have is that you misheard the Nash Bridgew remark. There were only 7 Hemi ‘cuda convertibles left..
On ebay.com >motors>plymouth>barracuda> 70-74 they had 51.
In dodges they also had 51 3 gen challengers. That’s 102 for sale on ebay, also try crigslist.com. the best cars findable are on barrett-jackson.com, they televise auctions and take take orders by phone with really nice collector cars.

Q: Is a Plymouth Satellite and a Plymouth Road Runner 2 separate cars?
OR is there a 1968 Plymouth Satellite Road Runner.

I’m searching all over the Internet for my mom who wants a toy model of her fiance’s car, and she’s telling me it’s a 1968 Plymouth Road Runner Satellite. She’s saying that “satellite” is a special make/ model of the Road Runner, but I’m having a hard time finding the car. i either find one or the other , either a Plymth RR OR Satellite, nothing that says both. What exactly is it that I’m looking for?!?!

A: A Road Runner is just the hi-performance version of the Satellite base model. All Road Runners in 68 are based on a Satellite body style so you just need to find a Road Runner model car.

Q: Plymouth Neon 1998 with 139 thousand miles are they any good cars?
Was looking at a Plymouth Neon 1998 to buy has 139.00 thousand miles on it,I don’t know anything about them asking price is $1,500.00 my sister has hers up for sale. can anyone tell if me they are good cars.

A: We have a 98 Neon, but with only 77,xxx miles on it.

The mileage doesn’t matter, as long as the car was well taken care of.

If the car is in excellent condition and has maintenance records, then I wouldn’t worry.

Q: how to find pictures of 1972 plymouth cars?

A: how about google images!

Q: can someone give me a website i could go to to find Plymouth cars made in 1995?

A: Try Edmunds.com they show the listings of 4 (really 3) Plymouth vehicles in 1995. Acclaim, Neon, and Voyager (also Grand Voyager). Has consumer rating and pricing as well as stock photos. Hope you get the answers there that you are looking for.

Q: anyone know of a cheap place to get stuff to modify cars in plymouth?
plymouth , devon , uk .
my car is a ford escort .

A: the best place to look is on .www.ebay.co.uk.they got lots of stuff to modify you car

Q: I am looking into buying a 1997 Plymouth breeze. Are they good cars??
I will be getting my license soon and I just need a car to get to work in and just use around town, but I don’t want to waste my money on a dud car!!! Thanks for your answers
I’m only 16 and i live in a small town, my job is about 1 min. down the road

A: they arent a bad car, but just like any car, you have to keep them up in shape.

Q: I have a 1940s picture with cars in it, how can I get the make (Plymouth?) of one of the cars identified?
Its possible that one of the cars was my father’s.

A: you’ll have to post a link to the photo, like in your yahoo photos. or join a car group, post it in their albums and ask the members

Q: Does Plymouth still make cars?
Are any new cars being made under the Plymouth brand?
When was the last year a car was made under the Plymouth brand?

Yes I know Plymouth, Chrysler, Dodge are virtually the same company, Chrysler and Dodge are plentiful, where’s Plymouth?

A: 2001: Plymouth’s final model year. Only the Neon remains in the Plymouth line. The Prowler becomes a Chrysler. The Breeze is dropped as Chrysler issues the Chrysler Sebring sedan to replace the Chrysler Cirrus. The PT Cruiser is launched as a Chrysler, though it was originally planned to be a Plymouth. The final Plymouth, a Neon, is assembled on June 28, 2001.

basically, most Plymouths changed badges to Chrysler.

Q: Why is the 1967 – 1971 Plymouth “Belvedere” GTX, one of the “Greatest” True Muscle Cars ever?
The Plymouth GTX has got to be the Greatest True Muscle Car since the 1964 Pontiac GTO Kick Started the True Muscle Car Movement, why?

A: because all true GTX,s were all big block cars, and they was made available with the hemi in them from the time they came out it you wanted one in it,that was back in the power days and all car company’s were trying to build the strongest muscle car they could, you wont find very many small block gtx,s,if its a true gtx it will have a h.p. 383 or a 440 or a hemi in it,i owned a 67 gtx with the 383 in it,in their time they was fast cars, there was faster cars than the Gtx,s,s we all know that but for what they was and for the price of them it was drag racing strait from the factory, mine was stock and would run with many of the other ones with larger engines,Chrysler had one before that even ,the 66 Plymouth sport satellite also came with all the big block engine options including the hemi option, good luck.

Q: Which American cars are really Japanese? For instance, my Plymouth Colt is really a Mitsubishi Mirage?
Do you know of other American cars that are really Japanese? Isn’t there an American car that is really a Toyota, etc…?
Thanks-

A: The 80’s Chevy Nova and Geo/Chevy Prism were Toyota Corollas. The Pontiac Vibe is a Toyota Matrix. There is also a Toyota Cavalier which is a Chevy Cavalier.

Geo Storm was a Suzuki. Both were GM brands though.

Geo Tracker was something Japanese and once again both were GM brands.

The Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser was a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Of course Chrysler owed Eagle, Plymouth, and a large part of Mitsubishi.

Q: How many 1974 Plymouth Barracuda with a V8 360 motor, 4 speed cars were produced, not Cuda’s, thanks?
Michelle 1 , you are an idiot. The Cuda and the Barracuda are two different models. So you dont know what you are talking about, why waste my time as to even try and answer this question??? Pathetic

A: 1974 Model Year for Plymouth E-bodies
Total 11,734
Hardtop Barracuda 8 cyl 6,745
Hardtop ‘Cuda 8 cyl 4,989

I could not find any information on the engine and trans breakdown for the barracuda. Found it for the cuda. Just not out there for the barracuda. Perhaps Galen Govier’s book might have the info, or ask the question on moparts.

Q: I wanna Buy a 98 Neon Plymouth but i heard thier bad cars?
It has really good milage and it’s easy on gas

A: Plymouth Neon 98 & 99

are unreliable and need more repairs than average.

Dodge Neons from 2004 & 05
are rated better than other models

but neons do not score well in crash tests.

for $4,000 you can find

98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissian Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

Q: When was the first plymouth car put on the market?
Have an old picture that shows an old car, two door with a cloth top. the wheels appear to be wood spoke. I think the picture was taken in 1929 or 1930.

A: June 11, 1928

Q: where can i get a chip for my cars ecu monotronic system its a 2000 plymouth neon?

A: Check out the JC Whitney catalog

Q: What brand of racing chip should I use in my ‘96 Chevy Camaro RS?
I have a ‘96 Chevy Camaro RS and I am trying to add some extra horsepower with a chip. I am just wondering what brand of racing chip I should use and the price.

A: i’v always liked the bulldog chips they aint as high as some others last time i checked they ran around $110 or so but their easy to install so u can save alittle by doin it yourself

Q: How big is the gas tank in a 2011 Chevy Camaro?
I test drove a 2011 3.6L V-6 Chevy Camaro yesterday. But no where does it mention the size of the gas tank. Is it 20 gallons or 15? Supposedly a rating of 29mpg highway which is very good for this beefy V-6. So how far you think I can go on a tank of gas? I could figure it out but the salesman told me even he doesn’t know!!! Thanks

A: It’s 19 gallons
http://www.chevrolet.com/camaro-coupe/features-specs/
Edit: You have to click on the fuel tab and according to the specs it says 28mpg highway and 17mpg city.

Q: How can I get the bank to loan on a ‘69 Chevy Camaro?
How can I get the bank to loan on a ‘69 Chevy Camaro, which is full restored to replicate the Z-28? Answers please require other solutions than collateral.

A: This would be considered a classic car and banks are not usually willing to offer loans on these kinds of cars. However, there are specialty lenders who do. Check on the www.hemmings.com web site and see if you can find links or advertisements for such lenders.

Q: What is a good cheap place to buy an engine rebuild kit for a 1999 chevy camaro?
Looking for a cheap place to purchase a rebuild kit for a 1999 chevy camaro 3.8 auto. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
thanks guys…i did check out summit I found one for 439.00. I will check out the other sites for sure. thanks

A: Your best bet is either PAW Catalog, Summit has some nice kits cheap too, or even JEGS. You get a complete kit with camshaft, pistons, lifters, timing chain and gears, all the gaskets, bearings, the works for about 300.00.

Q: Is it possible to get red rally stipes on a white Chevy Camaro?
I was wondering if Chevy car dealerships can put red rally stirpes on a white camaro instead of the other colors.

A: Enough money can buy you anything. Doesn’t matter if it’s a factory option or not.

Q: How hard it is to perform a tune-up on a 1997 chevy camaro?
on the 1997 chevy camaro is there really two spark plugs under the car. if so do you neeb a special tool to reach them

A: There is nothing to it…go for it…

Q: I have an 1989 chevy camaro and the injectors on passenger side don’t work?
The car runs but it’s only running on four injectors(drivers side) and the other four on passenger side don’t work. I have changed the edu, distributor, fuel regulator, fuel pump, injectors, distributor and still the same, what else can it be. It’s an 1989 chevy camaro 5.7 TPI

A: I would suspect either a blown fuse…..check the fuse with an ohm meter…….or you could have a wiring issue….if the fuse checks good keep the ohm meter out and star checking for breaks in the wires!!

Q: what size rims are the stock rims on a 2002 chevy camaro?
looking for rims to fit my mom’s 02 chevy camaro. I know they are 5×100 and they are 16″s is there another dimension or information I need to know?? I want to do a search online to look for new rims for her.

A: Please call your local chevy dealerships parts dept.Give them the last eight of your VIN number. They will be able to answer any questions you have about your 2002 camaro.Rim size.engine, trans, drive line.color Etc.Best of luck.

Q: Which car do you think is better the Hyundai Genesis Coupe or the Chevy Camaro?
My friend thinks the Hyundai genesis coupe is better than the Chevy Camaro, but I think the Camaro is better, what do you guys think?

A: The V6 Camaro out performance the Genesis coupe in every category…obviously it’s no comparison if you include the SS.

The Genesis coupe is actually a nice car but it’s outmatched against the Camaro.

Postman-How can a Chevy be a “cheap rip off” off of a Dodge and Mustang when they’re nothing alike? That makes no sense. Then again you did buy a POS slow 350Z turd which says a lot right there…

Q: 1994 chevy camaro car starting problems, wats the problem?
okay my friends ‘94 chevy camaro is having car problems and the key will turn but he has no spark or eletric current going threw and he’s tryed everything to fix it, and this all started after he put engine cleaner in his engine and now it wont work period. wat could he do to fix it or wat could be the problem?
okay we found out its neither battery or anything its either computer or something. can any of that stop ur engine for starting?

A: do the headlite test when it won’t crank. Turn on the headlights and turn the key to crank, if the lights stay bright, there is an open circuit to the starter. If the lites go out or almost out, it is usually the battery or cables. if battery is dead, it could be alternator problems.

my dad told me that, i have no idea what it means but sounds cool.

Q: What is the insurance cost for the 2010 Chevy Camaro?
okay, well i want a 2010 Chevy Camaro for my first car. And that will be in about 3 years. But because i will be 16 at that time and its considered a “Sports Car”, and when your under the age of 21 (or 25 something like that) and the insurance will already be higher, I would like to know what the Full Coverage/Monthly Cost will be. And I would your own personal estimate, and please not those “Help yourself” answer with links. So… that’d be greatttt!

A: It depends on a lot of factors and also it can change a lot in 3 years but if you want to get a good idea the best way is to get quotes online, try this site where you can get quotes from different companies

http://biinsurance.notlong.com

Q: how do you find the proper plug combination for a 1987 Chevy camaro?
how do you find the proper plug combination for a 1987 Chevy camaro?

A: Forget after market foreign plugs for this car. It was designed for Delco parts. Get the Delco parts catalog at the local parts store and look up your engine under 1987 Chevrolet. Buy 6 or 8 plugs depending on the engine. Get Delco plug wires too.

Q: Where can I rent a 2010 Chevy Camaro in or around Philadelphia, PA?
I want to rent a chevy camaro for a day or weekend in June, does anyone know where I can rent one? I checked Avis website but they didn’t list Camaros for Philadelphia.

A: There are rental agencies other than Avis; have you tried the Yellow Pages?

Q: where is my fuel reset switch on a 1996 chevy camaro?
I just went and spent $225.00 on a new fuel pump for my 1996 chevy camaro, but its still not getting fuel. can anyone please tell me where I can find the dang relay/reset fuel switch?
Thanks to all who answered this question, We found out what was wrong, It was a wire burnt into.

A: GM did not use a “reset” switch for fuel. Fords did.

The fuel pump relay is in the underhood bussed electrical center.

Q: what kind of wiring harness do you need for a 1989 chevy camaro?
i have a chevy camaro 305 5.0L v8, i dont know if the stereo connection is OEM or what not, but it is a rally sport, and i need to know how many wires are in the chassy that go to the radio..

A: You have a couple of choices because of the different kinds of radios that came with them.
1. A 10-wire connector in the shape of a rectangle. There are 6 wires in a row, then a space, then 4 wires in a row. All 10 wires are in a row, just divided.
2. A 9-wire connector in the shape of a rectangle. All in a row with no spaces (some may be empty because they are not used but has 9 openings).
3. Another 10-wire connector but opposite of the first one. 4 wires will be on the opposite side as the first one, then a space and then the other 6 wires.

Hope this helps.

Q: Is it possible to do a full color change on a 67 Pontiac GTO?
I’m really into the ‘67 and ‘68 convertible models. The ones I’ve looked into are red and black, but I would love to get it painted a dark metallic blue with white racing stripes. Is it possible to do such a huge paint change?

A: Of course. im huge in the restorations and its easy on our older cars. It usually requires alot of work if you want a flawless show job. Taking the fenders and doors off to paint the doorjams, under the mirrors and door handles, etc. But it is ALOT easier to start with a nice straight car so body work is at a minumum
-wes

Q: can you fit a Chevy engine in a 66 or 67 Pontiac GTO?
I know that the GTO came with a 400 cid V8…for 66 and 67 but can a 455 cid V-8 in there..what about the Chevy 427 or Aftermarket GM Performance parts 502 cid v8 or 540….can a supercharger fit under there, too?

A: yes you can actually put any gm motor in that car you want to ,they make mount kits now for all engines, and there’s no limit as to what that car can have in it.those cars had a lot of room in under the hood, and would hold a good sized gm engine,a 454 would fit in that one real easy.its been done a lot ,even a 502 would fit it, seen that done not long ago, good luck on it.

Q: 67 Pontiac GTO?
noooooooo ok my dad wants to sell my car ok his car but close to being mines so this guy said he would give him $5000 for it i said “no way u put in more then that plus u can sell it for more on ebay” but he doesnt trust ebay idk and dont care why ….whats a good price he can sell his gto its silver ext. and black leather&suade int. 20inch american racing bullet wheels and over 100k miles i really dont want him 2 sell it but were buying a new truck and need space
i dont want to sell it….not even for 5000 thats nothing for this gto yes it runs perfect and has dual flowmaster and hooker headers lots of other customs

A: HOLD ON DAD YOU GOT MUSCLE CAR!…its worth more than 70,000.The last one sold in legas for 78,000 dollars……………STOCK.

Dads never believe their sons so….kisss that antique good bye.I’m sure my friend would buy it for his collection for 50,000 off hand. You guys need to watch the SPEED CHANNEL for prices..$$$$$$…..if you put it on e-bay or an auction tommorow I’ll bid 50,000 garanteed and my buddy is on the phone freak’n out he says 60,000 at least

Q: FOUND a 67 pontiac GTO sittin out in the woods rotting. I NEED HELP WITH THIS GUYS!!?
now i aint ever cleaned up an old car like this.

FIRST PROBLEM HERE–

i NEED to know where to keep it. i live out in an apartment with strict grass conditions, strict parking conditions,
but we live in the outbacks.
problem here- we own no land around here. other problem- i want to haul out a 40 year old car and fix it up (which will take some time of mine)

second problem- i know NOTHING about fixing the body .
this is a complicated thing to discuss over the internet so if anyone could ever email me about it to discuss it or ANY help i can get- email trixie.smirnoff@yahoo.com

third problem- its in horrible horrible condition and i have no idea on parts it needs, what the parts do, and how to install those. and i have no money for a mechanic. SO i would need a little help on knowing which parts are basic for a car to run, and for a car to normally function.

fourth problem- is anyone going to steal it? i mean, its pretty horrible lookin and it aint gonna get nowhere. i mean, theres nothin in it to run, nothin at all barely except a couple of the things that were to the far right under the hood, and the wiring inside it.

OTHER THINGS-
how much will things from junkyards (like engines, etc) cost?
and also, can i even FIND things that will work in this car? at all?

and ,, honestly, if i spent YEARS on this thing i wanna get it fixed up a little.

soo..
anyone know anything ? 5_5
no way dude, this is MY project this time.
aint no one else gonna do it if i die TRYIN!

A: First off, kudos on finding one!

Now the bad news: No engine or transmission? You are handicapped to start…is the interior intact? That includes every inch of “floorpan”, all the floor metal front to rear inside. All gages still in the dash? Steering column, pedals? With nothing but a shell, the task gets extremely harder…

Original engines and transmissions can still be found, but you have to really look to get good used ones, or rebuilt ones from suppliers…

Body work is a labor of love, to say the least. So if you want to tackle it yourself, start buying detailed body work books, and especially “restoration” books…or join a “Goat Club” somewhere, there are many enthusiasts out there, on the internet. Get advice from other Goat lovers.

Finally, yes it could take years…and several thousand dollars to just get going on the right track. But do that initial assessment first, you might take usable parts and glass off it if the body is just too far gone. Even if you can’t restore it, any useable parts are valuable!

p.s. as for what to do with it…rent a garage if nothing else, to reduce the weathering on it…

Q: how much it will cost to buy PONTIAC GTO 1967?
any one who can tell me the price of Gto 67 any condition
and it will be very nice if any one can tel me how much i will need to spend on it before it will be ready for pimpin

A: If your gonna “pimp it” buy a impala, GTO’s are valuable, Their parts a very scarce and very expensive.

Q: I want to learn about the 101 of automotive engines. Drag race performance, for my 67′ GTO.?
Hello everyone out there in the automotive world. Im 16, dad gave me his prized possession of a 1967 Pontiac GTO. Im so stoked on it and have been wanting to have a project car for a while. The body work and interior is all being done by body shops and other professionals like that. My problem is working with my engine. Its beautiful and sounds like a BEAST, but i want to learn more about it, and frankly its a lot. i get the main concept of how motors run and what a carb. is and fuel injectors, but like i want to sup this babby up!! put some performance parts on her. people say the easiest way to learn is by taking your car apart and putting it back to gether.! Bull Shi+. You dont know the names and what they do! so people i want a real answer. something that will help me.

(maybe study it?? take class at community college?)
i dono you tell me!

LOVE THE 4oo HP!

A: Google, my young car friend. It’s the best thing that there is, when you want to learn about cars. Search anything and everything you can think of.

My first step, if I were you, is to head over to Wikipedia. Start by searching for the terms you mentioned. Carburetor, fuel injection, etc. Read everything you see on the page, then follow any extra links they provide. If you want a more visual understanding, try howstuffworks.com. Excellent website for explaining things.

And actually, it’s not BS to yank apart a car and put it back together. That’s one of the fastest ways I’ve learned.

I went out, bought a cheap A$$ camaro for $500. Bought the shop manual for it, and stripped it down to it’s shell. Sold the parts, made about $1000, and when I work on my current Camaro, it’s a piece of cake, because I’ve already had my hands on all the parts. Sure, I didn’t know the names to start with, but when you’re under a car, having some random thing hit you in the head, you find out real fast what it’s called, what it does, why you need it, and how to remove/install it.

If your engine runs right now, I wouldn’t recommend taking it apart though. Swing over to Jegs, Jcwhitney, or Summit Racing. Punch in your year car and engine model, and browse through their performance packages. You should be able to find intake manifold/carb/header combos. That’s what I did for my 1971 Mustang.

Good luck!

Q: Which Pontiac GTO is faster?
GTO 67? Stock

GTO 09? Stock

A: After 2006 GTO model was replaced with G-8 4 door I don’t know why. But a non areodynamic heavy 1967 GTO with a three speed automatic or a 4 speed manual and reliatively low rear axle ratio 348 365 to one would be reving high over 110mph. Not that you would want to go that fast except in a straight line. 6.0 liter 2006 with a 6 speed manual trans with out speed limiter can easily go over 165mph. I have driven over 145mph in 5th gear. On a vacant road where I could see over 10 miles ahead and no onramps. (west Texas). I also have driven very quickly on road racing tracks. Lap after Lap the 2006 GTO is a very good track car with stronger sway bars and minor modifications.

Q: Okay, I’m a girl, I like cars, Do guys think that’s weird?
I like working on cars and like learning how to take them apart and see how they work. I love the 75 Chevy Camaro and a 67 Pontiac GTO. Do guys think that is odd, or that its a turn off?

A: Doesent bother me i thinks that perfectly fine ok picture this im a guy and i ove playing videogame does that make me a nerd and is it a turn off its basicly the same question type just different question so i would say NO that fine by me

Q: My Baby My Pride My Joy?
What do you think the best engine for a 67′ pontiac Gto is and around how much?
What do you think the best engine for a 67′ pontiac Gto is and around how much? My dads friend said a 454 block but i would rather have peformance over speed

A: You’re kidding right?

Get the 454.

Performance = speed. You can’t want one, and not get the other. So that makes no sense at all.

Q: Who is the biggest Pontiac Owner in Yahoo Answers?
I’ve owned

64 GTO Convert
67 GTO Convert
73 Grand Am 400 4bbl
75 Lemans 350 2bbl
77 Lemans 231 V6, 3 on the tree
81 Trans Am (NASCAR/DAYTONA/RECARO Edition)
75 Grandville 2 door 455 4bbl
87 Sunbird
90 Bonneville
02 Grand Am GT
04 Bonneville
05 GTO

Can you top that? All these cars are/were registered and on the road – don’t include your spare parts cars please! ;^)
Metalman – nice car! I hope you like it as much as my wife liked hers. It was an ‘02… She still misses that car!

A: I have one Pontiac..A 1977 S/E Trans Am and in ‘86 I starting showing it at local car shows (later across the U.S.) and today I have some 50 1st & 2nd place Trophies, two of witch are Best Pontiac in Show.

In 1987 I joined POCI and the Tomahawk chapter 13. Founding chapter Ed H. has own some 100+ Pontiac’s over the years.

Q: Should i sell my 2005 mustang?
I own a 2005 mustang v6 should I sell it to buy a 67 pontiac gto and rebuild it

A: yes.

Q: is it possible/where can i get(buy) one or both of these sweet cars?!?!?!?
a 67 Pontiac GTO
a 1970 Dodge Charger

A: Probably ebay or a page called http://www.hemmings.com/

Q: which would you rather buy?
you have enough cash in your pocket… which would you buy?

69 Chevy Camaro SS
69 Hemi Cuda
67 Pontiac GTO
Shelby GT 500 (eleanor)

A: Geez, what a stupid response from “Terence” . Of the one’s listed I like the GTO but as with any classic car selection, it is a matter of personal taste.

Q: is it hot when a girl drives a realllllly manly car?
don’t lie to yourself, people, you KNOW a ‘67 Pontiac GTO Judge is more manly than a 2009 Chrysler Pacifica. it’s the steel body and the bottom-end/torque that makes the difference. don’t lie!

what do you think of girls who drive like men?

Oooh, converse (obverse?) bonus question: what about MEN who drive plush curvy soccer-mom grocery-wagons?
amy c, you’ve got 6 david beckhams and a trunk full o’ KICKERRRRRS? your trunk got them jackie chans in it? how adorably silly. you want to replace your factory system piece-by-piece w/ the equivalent in Memphis. then you want to set it California style: treble at 7, bass at 3. you need to get it right like a fader, love.

oh, and hydraulics aren’t cute, they’re just pretentious. unless you actually haul stuff.
that’s what’s UP, rio. your haircut is precious btw.

A: I figure guys like it better when a girl KNOWS a really manly car. You can drive anything, but knowing the history and structure of the car is a different matter.

Q: good car to buy?
Me and my dad are gonna split a classic muscle car when we can get the money…..we were planning on a 67-69 Pontiac GTO or 70 mercury cougar….or a 69-70 Oldsmobile 442….any comments?

A: the way prices are going you might want to buy a lotto ticket or two.

always thought the 442’s were cool as hell.

Q: Does anyone know where I can get a list of every part in a 1970 Chevrolet Nova?
I am looking for a complete list of every part in a 1970/1971/1972/1973 Chevrolet Nova. I have done my homework online, but have come up blank…Can anyone help me out?

A: order a nova parts book for free from year0ne.com, there is pretty much every part in there to rebuild a nova from scratch.

Q: does anyone happen to have a chevrolet nova?
i was wondering does anyone have a Chevrolet Nova either made in 1965-1969 in Saskatchewan and I will probably ask to see it before purchase post a message if you have one for sale thanx.

A: try autotrader.com or autobytel.com you can probably find 1 there for sell and maybe close to you

Q: Can a 1973 Chevrolet Nova SS be given a Fully Independent Double-Wishbone Suspension System?
Can it be done? If so, how easy or hard would it be?
FWIS (4-wheel independent suspension) Multi-link Double Wishbone system.
1973 Chevrolet Nova SS 2-door hatchback coupe.
I wasn’t aware that the front had it, thanks for letting me know that.

What would be the best swap for giving the rear double-wishbones as well?
I’m asking specifically if a double-wishbone set up in the front and back can be installed. It will be brand new if it can.

A: the front already has it. the rear would require some serious work but i am sure that you can find a kit for just about any thing.

i want to put a v8 on my push lawn mower…..

Q: How many miles per gallon will a 1971 Chevrolet Nova SS get?
It has a 350 turbo transmission, 350.

I am looking to buy it and i really need to know how many miles i can get!

A: I own a shop, and a Nova. You may be surprised at how good it will do out on the highway. It should crank out 18-20 mpg, and 14-16 around town, but the drawback is; It doesn’t have the gearing for truly good mpg. You can do what I did; I replaced the transmission with a 700R-4, and mine now has 4 forward gears with a lock-up converter that really makes for 5 forward gears. I can get 30 mpg with no problem. I have a pretty high geared rear end (2.72:1), and the engine isn’t above 2,500 rpm’s at 55 mph. The way it is stock, won’t do that good on mpg, so don’t expect to see any better than what I posted. I base this on a well tuned engine too.
Glad to add my 2 cents worth!!!

Q: Where can I find low speed crash data on a 1972 Chevrolet Nova?
My car was rear ended and the other person’s insurance company, Safeco, is having a hard time evaluating damages.

A: Why would you need to supply them with anything? Go to a body shop, get an estimate for repairs, and ask Safeco for that amount.

If you’re really interested, http://www.iihs.org/externaldata/srdata/docs/sr0720.pdf will give you lots of data on low speed crashes.

But in your case, having a 37 year old car, whatever the cost is will probably total the car and all you will get is fair market value, which will vary according to condition, but be around $250. Once they do that, they will tow the car away and you can go car shopping. If you want, they will sell it back to you for salvage value, but then you will get under $100 and have a salvage title. You will never be able to drive it again because you won’t find an insurance company willing to cover you.

Q: What was the original sticker price of a 1971 Chevrolet Nova?

A: $2,800.00…Auto Transmission and AM Radio, 5% Sales Tax. I remember the price because it was my first new car and I saved up the money to pay cash for it.

Q: Does anyone have a 1969 Chevrolet Nova for sale?
Must start and run.
Anywhere in Manitoba or the Calgary area.
Price range: 0-7000$
Any colour!
Must start and run.
Almost anywhere accross canada.
Price range: 0-7000$
Any colour!

A: just call dilip tatus in india or titu dhewan in india

they have good hold of vintage cars

price will be in 50000$ not 7000$

Q: I am looking for a dirt cheap/free ‘73 Chevrolet Nova body?
I am looking for a dirt cheap/free 1973 Chevrolet Nova body; no extra parts, just the body. I am also looking for a dirt cheap/free chassis (Frame) for the same car. Heck, I’m looking for dirt cheap/free ANYTHING for this car If you have it (Any part will do) for a ‘73 Nova and no longer want it, please let me know! Thanks!

A: Its going to be hard to find one that wont cost you a fortuneto restore if thats what your looking for but your best bet is www.craiglook.com copy an paste that an itll send you to the place i found my 1969 chevy c20.

Q: Where can I find a quarter window molding or seal for 1977 Chevrolet Nova?

A: They’re tough. I found one set on eBay, but they’re used…..

Q: What car is better chevrolet nova or chevrolet chevelle (years 69 to 79)?

A: Chevelle

Q: what is the best engine and trasmission for a chevrolet nova and chevrolet chevelle?

A: 396 for the engine… transmission… alison…

Q: Why didnt the Chevrolet Nova have a 454 big block option?
I know the biggest it went up to was 396 big block

A: GM probably figured the unibody cars would fall apart with the extra power?

Q: How much did the Chevrolet Nova cost brand new in 1977?
I need the price in Canadian dollars

A: in 1977 chevrolet added the compact concours as an upmarket nova; prices started at $3991.00

Q: Plymouth Fury vs Chevrolet Nova?
I have found 1966 Plymouth Fury 2 hardtop 2 door, It has a 383 V8 4 barrel carb. It is in prestine condition with a real good price…950.00. I have a 1973 Chevrolet Nova 4 door with a 250 inline 6 and a 2 speed powerglide tranny, I am thinking about selling my Nova and buying the Plymouth Fury good or bad Idea?

A: Both of them are not terribly collectible. That being said, the Fury (is it a Fury III or Sport Fury?) is much more collectible, especially because it’s a 2-door hardtop. The 383 was one of the bigger engines available that year, with the only step up being the 440-4.

If it is as pristine as you say, it sounds like a steal – get it!

Q: I have a chevrolet nova, 1988… just found out ther is a broken head gasket. how much is it to replace?
There is water in the oil….

A: The 1988 Chevrolet Nova uses a Toyota Engine. (I believe it’s a 1.6L)

A head gasket replacement for that vehicle will probably run between $300-$400, assuming the heads aren’t warped and everything else is in good shape.

With water in the oil, it really depends on how long you ran it that way before realizing that the head gasket was broken. Water doesn’t lubricate, and you could have damaged rod or main bearings.

Only a complete engine tear down could determine the extend of the damage. The problem is, if you simply decide to do the head gasket, and shortly after the repair, you realize the bearings are shot, you’ll have to have the entire engine torn down again.

Q: Dodge Chargers?
What are the differences between the 2007 and 2008 Dodge Charger. The best and most detailed answers will receive 10 points.

A: Charger?Who wants a four door…Go for the challenger!!!It not that much more than the Charger!!!!Yes,Its got a hemi!!!!

Q: How do you hot wire one of the newer models of dodge chargers?
I was wondering how all these car thieves steal dodge chargers don’t they have some sort of theft device in them, How do you hot wire dodge chargers like a 2005-2008?

A: Two words: Tow Truck

Q: Do the dodge chargers have a theft tracker?
Do the dodge chargers have a theft tracker device in them? And are they easy to steal? I am interested in buying a charger but I don’t want to if someone can easily steal it

A: They do not have any factory installed tracking device, but if you want, you can purchase a GPS device that is hidden, and then if it ever gets stolen you can locate it. The cars if stolen will have to be towed or put on a flat bed. Since the keys have a chip in them.

Q: Why are 1969 dodge chargers so expensive?
Ive been looking online for cars and noticed that 1969 dodge chargers are very expensive, why?

A: because right now they are among one of the most popular cars around and the more something is wanted or in demand the more its worth, and the 69 charger is a very desired car to own right now, even a good one to restore is worth more now than it cost new, good luck.

Q: Do you think the Cops that drive the Fords are jealous of the Cops that drive Dodge Chargers?
I would want a Dodge Charger, it’s a beast of a car!

A: Hey! Long time…

Anyways, I have to admit… the police Chargers are pretty fast… I’ve seen one chase on I-25 S … and NO, he was not chasing after me!

Q: Are dodge chargers good reliable cars and worth the money?
I’m in love with the dodge charger srt8 and that is what I’m saving up for but I hear that its not worth it and bad but others say its one of the best they have ever had btw its my first car also I I’m wondering which is better the r/t model or srt8 and if your wondering about weather conditions I live in miami so we obviously don’t get that much snow…

A: just in my opinion i think their really good cars,we own a used car lot and lately though we have had three of them on the lot for sale and only one has sold,it seems that the higher fuel prices are driving people away from them,i drove one around for about two weeks checking it out to make sure it had no problems and it was an excellent car,if you can afford the fuel got it buy it,if fuel prices rise it may not be so desirable of a car and much harder to get rid of if the price goes up as high as they say it will, hope this helps you some.

Q: What is the vehicle paint code for Sublime Green on Dodge Chargers??
What is the Vehicle paint code for Sublime Green used on the New Dodge Chargers? Thanks

A: FJ6 was the orignal paint code. The new ones might be a different code though.Look on the door pillar on the passenger side. The paint code is at the bottom of the tag.

I just asked a body shop friend and he said it’s PFB

Q: Are the new dodge chargers rear wheel drive?
Are the new dodge chargers rear wheel drive?

A: yes they are ,that’s the one good thing they kept about the chargers is keeping them a rear wheel drive vehicle ,had they only made it a two door car today that would have been one of the best selling vehicles that they would have had on the market, they was also available in an all wheel drive version but some of those have many reported problems so if your thinking about buying one stay with the rear wheel drive version of it,less problems and less head aches to deal with, good luck.

Q: Do dodge chargers have alot of problems?
from what i was told dodge chargers have alot of problems and they dont hold up good on the road is this true.

A: the v-8 cars hold up pretty well the v-6 models don’t though ,they don’t have enough power and do give some problems, the best one to get would be a v-8 model and one with low miles if going used, their like any other car though they do give problems and some of the chargers have had a lot pf problems,if your thinking of buying one have it checked really good before you do,good luck on it.

Q: Does anyone know of any good books on 73-74 Generation Dodge Chargers or Mopars in general?
I would like to learn more about 73-74 generation Mopars like the Chargers, Darts, Dusters, Satellites/Roadrunners/GTX, and Scamps. I am looking for one as a first muscle car because they are cheaper than the more famous Mopars, and I want to build up a 318 or 400, and make a nice hot rod.

Do you know of any books that can help me?

A: Lots of books but try www.allpar.com first to get you going

Q: How do the newer Dodge Avengers compare in speed to Dodge Chargers?
I know that the Chargers are a “step up,” but they have a large curb weight. Are similar models also similar in speed (example: Charger SXT and Avenger SXT)

A: The Charger SE will be comparable to the avenger in pickup.
The Charger SXT beefs up the 6 cylinder engine and would blow away any avenger.

Avenger is smaller and they both suck in terms of reliability.
If they were good cars, everyone would be buying them and Chrysler wouldn’t be in financial trouble.

Q: Are there any video games with Dodge Chargers?
I know NFS Carbon has a 78 and 06 Charger, and Gran Turismo 4 has a (I think ‘80 SuperBee), are there any other games with Dodge Chargers, especially 06 or 07 models?

A: There are none that I know of; the remodeled Charger is just a little too new.
There might be one exception, though I can’t say for sure. I do know that a new Forza Motorsport is out for 360, so it might have it, but I don’t know for sure.

Q: why do all dodge chargers have a dual exhaust bumper but not dual exhaust?
I think its really stupid and i dont know why dodge is doing it.

A: It’s cheaper to make all the valances identical than make two different stampings.

I agree with you, just telling you like it is . . . $$$.

Q: Why don’t a Lot of Dodge Chargers Drag Race?
I never seen a lot of Dodge Chargers as drag cars, not in Super Gas, Pro Street, Pro Mod, I’ve only seen 2 Pro Mod Chargers and one in Super Gas. The thing is I’ve seen Novas, Chevelles, Darts, Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes, and just about every other muscle car drag race and built but Chargers seem rare as drag cars.
Anyone know why that is?

A: these cars are lighter, not better, as for the chevelle the chevy big block is easier to find and a little cheaper in the short run::so build the mopar 440 charger any way they are more reliable than chevy and last longer, or build a small block dart or duster.

Q: What are the engine types the new dodge chargers come in?
I know v-8 and v-6, but i dont know the liters it has.

A: The ’07’s come with :
2.7 V6 DOHC 24V MPI
3.5 V6 24V MPI – HO
5.7 Hemi V8 – MDS (multi-displacement system)
6.1L SRT Hemi V8 (street racing technology)

Q: How much are Dodge vipers, and what color should I get?
I am looking to buy a dodge viper, and I need to know how much they cost.

& should I get the blue, or bright white as the color?
Yes, the picture is really mee. I am looking to buy one, and i really like the white and blue.. but purple is also an option, although they do not sell purple from the dealer i can get it paintedd.

A: You are a smart girl.
Go with a blue one. (With White Stripes)
They cost about $90,000

Q: How are the fibre glass aftermarket rocker pannels for dodge vipers?
I hear they can melt sometimes, but the aluminum ones oxidize as well, any suggestions?

A: I recommend the aluminum ones, if all else fails throw some wax on them evey now and again to slow the oxidation process.

Q: Are there any Dodge Vipers with automatic transmission?
Is it possible to modify one to an automatic?

A: Why would you want to do that? An automatic takes control away from the driver, lessens the driving sensation, and robs power from the wheels. Besides, nothing is more rewarding than a perfect heal/toe shift…

Q: What is the first year that dodge vipers had 600 hp?
I was looking at afew and saw that the 92 only has 400 and the 2000 only has like 500, And here soon Im coming apon a great ammount of money and Im buying a viper and I want the full 600hp straight up, thats what I want

A: You want a Viper “R” Or buy any Viper you want no matter what year and take it to Hennessy racing and they can modifiy it for you to get the HP you want

Q: How come there isnt that much Dodge Vipers on the road?
i know 80,000 isnt cheap but i’ve seen ALOT of people with their prosche 911s and they cost way more and also i’ve seen alot of other more expensive cars and they seem almost common because there are so many of them. Corvette are everywhere and they cost about the same aren’t they? i was just wondering if its because people just don’t like the viper or its a bad car, does it have more WOW factor than other 80,000 cars or it would be a waste of 80,000 to buy this car? what would you buy with 80,000 dollars, thanks for you opinions!

A: Corvettes are pretty much the same performance for a lot less than the price of a Viper. Also, ‘vettes have been around longer and have a larger following. As for Porsche, it’s probably a status thing, if you have that much money you’ll buy a car that has that kind of name.

Q: Are DODGE VIPERS Useable as Every Day Cars?
Are DODGE VIPERS useable as everyday transportation or are they weekend toy cars?

A: They are sunny day only cars.

Q: Where can I find Dodge Vipers in Oklahoma City?
I am looking to purchase a Dodge Viper. I have searched online and on the lots at the following dealerships, and have had no luck. Does anyone know where I can find a dealership to purchase this vehicle?

Oklahoma City Dodge Chrysler Jeep | Bob Howard Dodge Chrysler Jeep www.bobhowarddodge.com

David Stanley Dodge: Oklahoma City www.davidstanleydodge.com

Oklahoma City Dodge Dealer – Fowler Dodge www.fowlerdodge.com

A: If you have money they will find you one. Since its a very low volume car most dealers wont have one.

Q: Any (older) racing games with dodge vipers?
Are there any racing games on “older” systems that have dodge vipers? Such as ps2, ps1, N64…(NOT) ps3 or wii or xbox)

A: Gran Turismo for the original Playstation. its the best car in the game.

Q: Which is more rare or rarely seen Lamborghini’s or dodge vipers?
And which one do you thinks has better proformance, horsepower and speed
And which one do you thinks has better proformance, horsepower and speed

A: Geeze, I guess it depends where you live, huh? In the past 12 months I’ve seen maybe 5 Vipers, NO Lambos. In fact the last time I saw a Lambo was prob. 20yrs ago.

Q: Do dodge vipers use a rear composite leaf spring?

A: No, they use a coil over strut suspension on all 4 wheels ever since they first came out in 1991. It’s much better controlled than a leaf spring.

Q: Do all Dodge Vipers have a manual trans?
Because my buddy told me he saw one with an automatic and it was factory. I told him they only came in manuals. so who is right?

A: yes all the of the dodge viper are manual trans. ever since the first generation

Q: Information About Dodge Vipers?
Help!
I need Help getting information about Dodge Vipers, like for example…
1.) What’s The Max Speed?
2.) How Much Miles Can It go per hour?
Stuff like that.
Please~

( Also Dodge Vipers is a car) DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

A: Google is your best friend to find all the information you need on a viper.

Q: Are Dodge vipers legal in all 52 states in the USA?
i need to no my cousin says there not i think they r plz help

A: 52 states? Last I knew there were only 50 states in the USA. As for the legality, yes the Viper is legal in all 50 states. Your cousin is wrong.

Q: do dodge vipers come in an automatic transmission?
Los Angeles traffic isnt built for a manual tranny.. what are some great automatic sports cars..
los angeles traffic gets to me thats why i do not want a manual tranny.. imagine trying to hold that clutch in on the 210 from long beack to the 5 towards sacramento everyday..id have calfs of steel!.. anyways.. alot of great cars like the corvette, mustang, come in autos does the viper?.. and does the zo6 come in a auto?

A: Others have already said the Viper doesn’t, and indeed, it doesn’t. If you want an auto, the new C6 Corvette has an improved automatic transmission with new shift algorythems for sportier performance. And I don’t think you can get the ZO6 with an Auto.
Try the BMW M5 with it’s 5 liter, 500-horse V-10, with a 7-speed clutchless paddleshift gearbox, or the 660ci, with it’s massive V-8 (or lookout for the upcoming 500-hp V-10 M6 with a carbon fiber roof!). There are plenty of high-powered exotics with automatic transmission, although most are now “sequential” gearboxes that just don’t have a person-operated clutch. The Maserati V8 Coupe is a nice ride, available with an auto, but not as fast as a Viper or Vette. Mercedes has an SL65 AMG with a hand-built 6.5L twin-turbo V-12 with over 600-bhp, too. Go European, and the options are endless.

Q: Why did Dodge at first, did not put a V8 engine in their Vipers?
If they did the viper would’ve got a lot of performance and traction, than the heavy long v10 engine.
And, because i hear more criticism from magazines and people that the viper does not have good of a traction and even though the engine is a v10 it does not have that much of a significant power. Although i do like the viper.

A: not much power? you kidding? its low end torq is best in its class! the first ones where undepowered considering the size, but that is because the viper was mere proproganda, at that time Mopar was on its way out, so the figure to just put a mean car togather while they last, not much engine engineering was done yet, but they wanted to show their muscel by giving it a V-10 with over 8.2liters.
the traction thing is because the car has a huge low rpm high torq engine and has no TCS like vettes do, the tubular chassis was also too light for the drive train setup. the engine doesnt weigh too much more than a simmilar sized 8cyl.
today vipers have more traction due to the new chassis layout, and the engines have now 600Hp.

with out a V-10 its just not a viper, it would be more like a rat snake;)

Q: is it possible to replace park brake shoes on the rear of a 68 corvette without taking the whole axle apart?

A: i never take the axle out, just take the drum off. may have to back the adjuster out if drum is groved to allow it to come off. a hammer is also helpful to loosen rusted stuck on drums

Q: Where can I get a model car (68 corvette or 00 firebird) that you can build?
Thanks

A: http://ebay.com has the largest collection of new and used models in the world..and it’s changing constantly,

here are 677 and thats just the Mustangs! Search for your favorite car!

Q: On a 68-73 Corvette with tail fin is the tail fin separte from the rear bumper or is it one peice?
If so then, will a 68-73 rear clip bumper fit on a 74-79 without a tail fin?
There is a tailfin on the 68 to 73 model corvette. well im not sure what its called but its a slope on the very top of the back bumper. the 74 threw 79 do not have this slope?

A: Tail fin? What are you talking about?

Q: 68 corvette headlight won’t close..?
Does anyone know how to manuely open and close the headlight on a 68 corvette? One will go up and down and the other came up, but won’t go down. Do these lights work off of a vacuum tube or something? I noticed the car needs to be running for them to move properly. Could that be the problem maybe?
ok, so i tried the switch under the dash and tried to manuelly to pull/push it down. i can do the other side but not that side. what else could it be?

A: They work off vacuum. You may have a leak. On my 77 there was a switch underneath the dash by the steering column that would allow you to raise the headlights and leave them up. Good luck with it.

Q: Can anyone help me find a diecast model of a 68 Corvette?

A: I have done some research for you and have came up with the following possibilities.

Q: This one is for the corvette guys. Questions about the the C3 (68-82)?
I Own a 1994 corvette lt1 6-speed that I have been working on for the last year, and a 1991 l98 automatic I picked up a few years ago for a good deal. Both cars are now complete. (as complete at a project can get) Now Im looking for something else to build. I desided I want to build a retro-mod C3 corvette (68-82) Ive always loved the c3 so why not.

Now here is my issue. I like the rear of the 68-73 cars much much better then the 2nd design. But I could never afford a 68 corvette nor would I want me to do the work on one. Im just not that skilled yet. But I am a body man , Will A 68-73 rear bumper cover bolt on a 74-82 corvette? If so anyone have any pictures of one completed? Or any info would be great!

I want to build a C3 with a 68 rear end with the 82 style front end, Is is possible?

thanks

A: Well Let me say that I’m not a True Corvette guy. I’m more of a G-Body guy. Now on the G-Body’s, swapping bumpers, front ends and more is easy, because the body went unchanged for years. You could easily turn a cutlass into a monte carlo SS. Unfortunately that doesn’t appear to be the case on the Vette. The only rear bumper I can see fitting on the 2nd design would be a 73 bumper. Thats because in 1973 GM redesigned the body mounts hoping for a better ride. that means all previous body panels will mount differently than the 73 and up ones will. Also for 1974 the feds mandated a 5MPH Rear bumper so GM might’ve again changed the mounting system which means you may hve to simply modify the mounting points which may not be that simple. I hope I’ve been a little helpfull and sorry I cant give you a straight up answer you wanted but body mounting info on vettes of any gen is very hard to find.

Q: ihave a 68 427 corvette and was wondering if the wipers will work using the vacuum to open the panel but …..
bypassing the little switch on the firewall that activates the vacuum canister which opens the panel to let wipers out…(phew) this is tuff to explain..thanks in advance as well! you guys and girls are fantastic ..ireally really like to thank you for your most invaluable advice!

A: What, you’re looking to re-engineer the system? Do it the easier way, open the panel to let them out, and tie them open so you don’t have to worry about vacuum or switches.

Q: 68 corvette vs 78 corvette?
Which in your opinion is the better corvette?

A: You are getting good answers on this, and I agree with most of them. The 1968 is the choice to make because of chrome bumpers and pre-smog engine. It will be worth much more in the long run.

Also, it was the first year of the C3. Historically, first and last years of Corvette models are more valuable to collectors. Now, if you could just find a 1967 . . . .

Q: will the rearend gears from a Impala work in a corvette?
I want to put a lower set of gears in my 68 Corvette will gears from an Impala work? how about the whole center section??

A: Not unless you would like to do a lot of fabrication work. The Corvette has independent rear suspension where as the Impala has a solid axle.

The gears alone will not fit.

We rebuild rearends for Corvettes here so we know our way around them.

Q: 1960 chevrolet bel air 2-dr sedan, 67 plymouth barracuda, 68 corvette convertible…?
78 chevy malibu, 68 camaro rs, 67 ford falcon sport coup, 60 chrysler 300 f? or your pick for the best classic muscle cars?

A: My 1972 Ford Cabri…… christ I miss that thing.

Q: value of ‘68 corvette?
black w/t-tops in good condition, garaged for most of last 20 yrs.

A: $10k to $20k depending on condition..

Q: I asked God for a 68 Corvette convertible “in the name of Jesus” and haven’t received. Did Jesus lie to us
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. John 16:23 (King James Version)
You don’t understand. I’ve been asking since 1968!

A: Interesting how so many people quote a different part of the bible without dealing with the fact that there is a clear contradictino here.

THis guy posted a verse that says basically, ask and you shall receive. Not “I’ll think about it”, but you shall receive. And you all quote verses saying “not so fast”. Well, which is it? Can we move mountains with faith? Only if it’s for a good cause? What?

Q: Average weekly/monthly Gas bill For a Corvette C3 68-82?
so i would like to buy a corvette but im wondering what is the average gas bill for a corvette model made during 1968-1982 seeing this is the year range i would like to get my corvette. I know the mpg for this car is stated to be from 12 on streets to 20 hwy. would also like to know any pros and cons of such year model for a corvette

A: you should try to get a vette a little newer. the ones back then have very little power. like 200HP. if you can get a 84-1990 you will have around 275hp to start with

Q: Corvette ‘68 vs ‘72, findind the better one?
I examined these cars and didn’t see much difference. Please tell me what’s the difference between them in their design and which one you think is more looks better?

A: The most visible difference is the louvres on the side of the car.

1968-69 had “gills” – 4 vertical slits

http://www.legendshotrodshop.com/images/68%20silver%20vette%20conv/TA%2068%20silver%20vette%20conv..jpg

1970-72 had “egg crates”

http://www.midlifemotors.net/70%20corvette%207078/01.jpg

1968 is unique in that it is the only year that didn’t say “Stingray” above the side louvres. As for which year looked best, it’s a matter of personal taste. Most people prefer the “gill” look, with ‘69 being the most coveted year.

Q: What are some common drawbacks or “achillies heel” of the 68 – 72 Corvettes?
This is my favorite model because of the front bumper. I’ve heard where the control arm bolts to the frame is a common rust area but what else can you add to the list of things to look for?

A: Besides rust in the frame rails, the biggest problem with corvettes is cracked fiberglass and improperly done body work. If you are looking to buy one, watch out for cars that are painted lighter colors like white or silver. If it’s not the original color and sometimes even if it is the lighter colors are often used by sellers to cover up bad body work.

You have excellent taste in cars, I love those old steel bumper Vettes. My uncle had 2 of them when I was a kid, a red 68 and a blue ‘69. Both were roadsters with 427/4spd drive trains.

Q: What is the best engine to put in my 69 GTO judge for best preformance and speed?

Q: In a race, 69 GTO Judge Vs. 69 SS Camaro, who would win?
Also, what is the fastest American muscle car ever?

A: I think they both are such good friends that they would race at the same speed. Both would win and share the title. That’s what I think. BIZZLE!!!!!!!

Q: What is the top speed for a 68 and 69 gto?
the 69 gto judge, and 68, i would really appricate an answer, i cant find it anywhere on the internet

A: Back in the 60’s they didn’t do flat out test for top speed and advertise it because of Insurance going through the roof any time the speed showed over 100 mph.

1969 RAIII 400 Hiden Pontiac Spec chart for GTO and Judge
Performance figures (with 4 spd)
Power 365.5 bhp / 272 KW @ 5100 rpm (366 advertised)
Torque 603 Nm / 445 ft lbs @ 3600 rpm
BHP/Liter 56 bhp / liter
Power to weight 0.26 bhp / kg
Top Speed 200 km/h / 124 mph
0-60 mph 6.5 s
((( Note posted RAIV listed Top Speed at 124 for insurance when it would do over 130 easy)))

1968 They did not post a good top speed in the GTO but did in the Firebird 400. GTO 112 mph

Firebird 400 RAII top speed 123.5 mph set to factory spec’s on radial tires. 120 speedo

After 1978 people started posting what they could get there personal cars to in Magazines

Factory spec’s of the 1968 car with Ram Air I could pass 112 mph but the tires couldn’t hold up
68 Ram Air II could hold 123 mph again tires could not hold up.

In 1969 Ram Air V 303 set a course record of 1 mile pass at 146 mph with 2:73 posi on a 5 mile course. using air craft tires

in 1969 The Ram Air V was introduced in 1969. It was a special 400 block with newly designed high compression tunnel port heads and a special high rise intake manifold. A prototype GTO so equipped could go 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds, and the quarter-mile time was 11.5 seconds at 123 mph (198 km/h). Ram Air Vs were not installed in GTOs at the factory; it was available only as an “over-the-counter” product, and most went to Pontiac racers of the time. Top speed set at off factory spec’s , changing carb, ign, ad overdrive and using 2:55 posi rear with push start set record at 175 mph with the RAV using the 400 setup.

1969 Ram Air III factory setup with 3:23 rear end A/C car hit top speed in Nevada Dec 1968 138 mph starving out came back in for carb change to Holley 780 topped out at 148 mph before blowing up from running to lean and lose of oil pressure.

in 1970 a 1969 Judge Ram Air IV was clocked at 136 mph with 3:55 rear end posi with street tires

Some road test for short track posted this is 1/4 mile times and speed

motor trend and Hot Rod Notes
1968
Hot Rod tested a four-speed GTO equipped with the standard engine and obtained a quarter mile reading of 14.7 seconds at 97 mph (156 km/h) in pure stock form. Motor Trend clocked a four-speed Ram Air with 4.33 rear differential at 14.45 seconds at 98.2 mph (158.0 km/h) and a standard GTO with Turbo-Hydramatic and a 3.23 rear axle ratio at 15.93 seconds at 88.3 mph

Enough info ? rest is all what people can change to get to top speed. example Bonneville Racing

Q: Around how much would a 69 GTO Judge be worth?

A: That depends on what shape it is in and what options it came with originally. A lot of factors determine the worth of an antique car.

Q: ‘69 GTO Judge Or ‘70 GSX?
Which do you like better?

A: Can I like BOTH !????

Really I’m Pontiac Freak.. So Judge Ram Air IV would be best for me.
Any color

But I love the Stage 1 GS … so the GSX with the 455 is a close VERY close 2nd
White !

I change my mind I want BOTH … HaHaHA

Q: Where is a good place to get a 69′ GTO Judge?
Do they have any on Ebay Motors

A: eBay for starters, and also Autotrader Classics.

Q: Pontiac gto “the judge”?
Hello iam a big muscle cars fan although not from the states.I have only once seen in my life a dodge charger , dukes of hazzard layout , which was one of the films survivors.I was shocked at the sight and the sound of the 440 six pack. But the real knock on the head was when i saw a comedy (like American Pie) that a 69 judge was starring.I felt tottaly in love with this monster….I came home and started looking and learning about those monsters and discovered a lot of barn finds and many neglected beauties in crapeyards , forests and houses.I wish i could have a body for restoration and working on it , no matter the money and the years to be spent.I would really like anyone that have ever come across , driven or owned a gto “judge” to share some moments of this car with me , so i would quite feel like changing gears through the hurst box…..Thank you all

A: I had a 68 GTO rag top. The Judge didn’t come out till 69, but except for the slightly different rear bumper and taillights and ultra cool functional ram air on the judge they were almost identical. The 400 ci pontiac engine is a good one and the Muncie rock crusher 4 speed and 3.90 posi rear end made my 68 fun to drive in a straight line. Unfortunately, brakes were a different story as my 68 had drums all around and with no power steering it didn’t handle too great. The acceleration was pretty impressive although there are faster production cars and the power came on like a rocket when the back two barrels of the rochester quadrajet spread bore four barrel opened up. I miss that old goat but am happily in a relationship with a fastback 68 mustang built around a real 427. They don’t make cars like that anymore.

Q: Where to find a 12×16″ frame for canvas painting?
I’m painting a ‘69 GTO Judge on a 12×16″ canvas for my boyfriend for christmas (Yes, christmas. It takes me a while to finish paintings ahah : ] ) and I was wondering where I could find a frame for it? Preferably a plain black frame.

A: There are lots of places that will custom frame for you…specialty shops, or as mentioned before, Micheal’s..or you can purchase a frame larger than your canvas, add matting and you will have framed an already great piece of artwork. You can get pre made frames in Micheal’s, hobby shops, even Walmart…If the canvas size is odd compared to frames you can find, you will have to go custom. Great gift..he will love it.

Q: What is the best American muscle car ever?
What american muscle car best describes the need for speed and power? Make, model and year. Its an opinion, but my vote goes to the ‘69 Pontiac GTO………THE JUDGE!

A: with a question like this, you’ll get 500 different answers because one persons belief of what the best American muscle car was will always be different than the next persons.

here is what i believe it was:

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle; LS6 454/4spd.

btw, my first car i drove to high school was indeed a 1969 gto judge…bought it for $1,100 in 1977 and drove the wheels off of it.
cars value today someplace around $30,000.

Q: How much does it cost to rebuild a motor?
I have a YZ high output 400 Big Block. Same motor in the GTO Judge and 67-69 Firebirds. (It currently sits in my 76 Firebird Formula) Its an older motor, so it has it quarks, Im wanting to know how much it would cost to rebuild it. When I say rebuild, Im pretty broad about it, so feel free to answer anything, whether it be head work, replacing cam, piston rings, boring, what have you. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

A: <agrees. If you are rebuilding the 'bird for show or maybe prostreet, you'll want to budget I'd say $5000 for a strip, dip, shave, and blueprint rebuild. Oh, and hot cams and maybe straight pipes, with maybe glass packs--do they still make glass packs?

Q: What year do you people think are the best pontiacs?
The 69 gto judge will kill any other car(the mustang the camero, nova all of them.) but also i found out about the old grand prix. what year is the best grand prix like the 69 gto. is it 69 as well or a differnt year. and what do you people think can the 69 gto judge own all other old cars. espeaclly with 2000hp!! and what about the old grand prix vs 69 gto judge. who wins there??? give me all your answers. (69 gto rocks and also the 67 stingray)
It had 2000hp and ya go to youtube Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Itq8_tIIDxQ and type that in you will find it it can hit the quartermile in 4.7 seconds. the best car that beats mustangs and cameros is vettes!! zr1 vette owns any stock car, ANY STOCK CAR( that includes lambo and ferrari stock)

A: best years,= 1967 GTO, 1965 GTO, 1968-1970 GTO’s, 1967-1974 Firebirds, 1971-1975 Trans Am. I also like the 69-71 Grand Prix’s, and the bigger early sixties 2+2’s. Grand Prix versus Judge? stock, I’d go with the goat, they have a little less weight, and basically the same motors, 400’s the judge had more horsepower stock when you got the RamAir options. As far as the 69 judge beating other muscle cars, no, horsepower wise the judge wasn’t that much different than a regular GTO, what made the 69 judge special was custom colors, the first ones were all painted “Carousel Red”, had a spoiler on rear deck, stripes and badges, and trim ring deletes. The judge had options that you could get on a regular goat, (hood tach, ram air) In 69 there were alot of performance cars available, quite a few could beat the GTO. or a dressed up GTO, like the judge.

Q: i need help chossing which one?
me and my dad are going to rebuild a car for my first car and i don’t know wat to choose either a 73 trans am or a 69 gto judge which one i need help thanks

A: Interesting question but I think that the answer is another question. What do you want to do with the car once you have finished? Sell, Show, or use? If you are to sell you will probably find the 69 is worth more, the trans am should beat the Judge on handling so I would say Trans Am for use, and if you show the car it would be by far the Judge. Good luck on your Choice! I reabuilt cars for 5 years and now just work on them when they break.

Q: whats your dream car?
i had to write aa essay about it in english today and i was just wondering other peoples dream cars. mine is a 69 GTO the judge.

A: def. McLaren f1 haha
but i’d settle for a Ferrari Enzo when i’m older.

for right now though i kind of want like an ‘89 or ‘93 toyota mr2

Q: For those who love talking cars: which are your favorites (classic and modern)?
Classic:
- ‘69 Pontiac GTO Judge
- ‘70 Chevy Chevelle SS
- ‘70 Buick GSX
- ‘69 Chevy Camaro Z28
- ‘70 Dodge Challenger
- ‘70 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda
- ‘67 King Cobra

Modern:
- Nissan Skyline GT-R
- Audi R8
- Dodge Challenger (concept)
- Ford Mustang GT500
- Chevy Camaro
- Porsche 911 Turbo
- Lamborghini

I’d love a discussion about your favorite cars, modern or classic.
By the way, what is the word for car lovers? Maybe an autophile, but don’t those apply to men only?

A: my favorite modern car is actually on your list – it is off course the Porsche 911 turbo. What i great piece of engineering!

My favorite classic car would have to be either the porsche 911 2.7 rs or the phenomenal Porsche 959.

Q: 66 Mustang?
hi ive got a 66 mustang. problem is i lost my keys. how the heck am i gonna drive it now? someone told me i could use a screwdriver and touch the solenoid or somehting. im not worried about gettign in trouble its insured and i have my title in my wallet. i just cant go anywhere to get any parts for it. so i basically need to “steal” my own car to go fix it. any suggestions? ive gotta go to work tomorrow so hopefully i can figure this out. mobile mechanix are expensive.

A: If it’s unlocked, just go down and buy a new ignition switch with the lock assembly in it ( available at many auto parts stores) Otherwise, call a locksmith and he could probably cut a new key for it. I would recommend getting a spare key for future problems. Another tip…don’t carry the title around with you. Put it in a safe place. The only papers you need in the car are the registration and insurance card.

Q: What is the easiest and cheapest way to upgrade 66 mustang headlights?
I just bought a 66 mustang and the headlights are very weak. I would like to know if I should just buy new original headlights or something else.

A: You Mustang has 7″ round sealed beam headlamps. If they are the original type headlamps, just upgrade to 7″ round halogen headlamps, the distance you see down the highway will greatly increase. It will probably cost about $30 per light, maximum, and they are direct replacement, takes about 5 minutes per headlight. These lights aren’t special order, they should even be available at Wamart, but shops like Autozone in the US and Canadian Tire in Canada still sell these as regular stock, or easy-to order items in the smaller stores.
You don’t need any chemical cleaners, the headlamps are glass sealed beam, meaning they clean completely with windshield washer fluid, or water with a little car wash soap. There is nothing to restore on a glass sealbeam, unlike newer cars with plastic housings that oxidize.

Q: How do you adjust the carburetor on a 66 mustang?
I have a 66 mustang, and it idle’s really high, so when i first start it up, if i dont rev the engine enough it stalls out.
how do i go about adjusting the carburetor to correct this, or do you know of any websites that can help me out.

A: sounds like your choke is not working properly if it stalls after starting it. you can adjust the idle by a little screw on the throttle plate by were the cable attaches to the carb. normally when the choke is applied to start there is a little cam that makes the idle speed increase during start up. if you have a automatic or electric choke make sure it closes when the engine is cold. also make sure it opens all the way once the engine is at operating temp. as to adjusting the carb you will need a vacume guage hook it up to a port that has vacume at idle adjust the low speed jet so the guage needle moves as little as possible. overall engine condition will effect this also rings, valves etc. if you cant get the needle to to stay within 1-2 inches either way do a compression check to see the condition of the rings, do a leakdown test to check the valve seat and guide condition. good luck

Q: I have a 66 mustang and I want it stripped and painted? What would the cost be?
I have a ‘66 mustang and it’s a baby blue right now. I want it painted sapphire blue and I want to know how much it would cost to get it repainted. Any ideas?

A: about 27

Q: Where do i go to start restoring my 66 mustang?
I received a 66 mustang for my birthday. Which is my dream car. However it needs some interior work and a paint job. My problem is i have no idea where to go. Any Ideas?

A: Where you go is…..every major city in the US has a club of Mustang owners, and a club for old car owners, join all of them….then talk around to the other members, and see who they had success with…and who they didn’t…if you find a place that three or more people like…that’s your place….

Q: Whats wrong with my 66 mustang clutch adjustment?
I just rebuilt the engine, clutch, and transmission on my 66 mustang and i’m still having problems. The equalizer bar that connects the clutch rod the clutch fork keeps bending and won’t engage the clutch. I don’t know why because everything is in alignment and the free travel is correct. Any ideas of what the problem is?

A: they aren’t very strong and are easily bent if you install a stronger clutch.. I had trouble with mine until I went back to a stock clutch..

Q: How to get rid of a squeak on the front spring of a 65/66 mustang?
My 66 mustang has been sitting for the winter and when i took it out for a drive the first time this year the front spring started to squeak does any one know how to fix this problem?

A: Replace the insulator:

http://www.cal-mustang.com/INSULATOR-FRONT-COIL-SPRING-P5485C328.aspx

Q: How do I turn my 66 mustang into a v8?
I have a ‘66 mustang convertible and it just has a 200 in it. I was really wanting to put a 289, 302, or 351 in it. What all will I have to change other than the suspension?

A: First off, if you don’t know what you’re talking about (cough Brad cough) then don’t give advice on it. Second, the swap is NOT going to be easy, it’s a lot of work and it’d be easier and probably cheaper to buy a V8 in the first place. If you want to swap from an I6 to a V8 then you’ll have to swap the following:
-Switch to 5 lug axles
-Bigger radiator
-Heavier suspension
-New bellhousing
-Stronger tranny
-Different rearend
-Different brakes
-New driveline

There’s still a few more things on top of all that, but you get the general idea. Try getting on a Mustang forum and asking them, plenty of people have done these swaps so you’ll find a wealth of info on it. Good luck and have fun!

Q: what manual transmission should i use in my 66 mustang that will bolt on a 351 winsor?
I am rebuilding this 66 mustang and have yet to get done but id like to find the right transmission first.
i am currently restoring this 66 and it has an automatic tranny in it now. i personally want a manual but do you think id be better off just keeping the one in it. im on a tight budget but i have plenty of time.

A: the ideal choice would be a new 5 speed with overdrive like the T5.. they make kits to do it, but otherwise you;ll need a top loader from another Mustang because the tail shaft is longer to accommodate the floorshift.. if you play with the tranny mount and driveshaft length you can put in anything..

the six and eight body shells are all the same and the only transmissions that won’t fit are the FMX and C6 or newer AOD’S ..You just have to get the right tranny mount..

Q: how much does insurance on a 66 mustang cost?
I’m looking to buy my first car and i dream of buying a 66 mustang that i’ve fallen in love with only thing is i have to pay for insurance and im wondering how much it might cost. I’d be added onto my parents insurance (i’m not sure the carrier) but I am a female and 18. How much do you think it would run me?

A: it’ll be expensive. just the word mustang will raise the insurance rate, let alone the numbers 1966. are you talking daily driver or just weekend cruiser? i would call local insurance companies and ask them to give you a quote before you buy.

Q: Where can I buy bias-ply tires for a 66 mustang?
I have a 66 mustang convertible and would like to put snow tires on the rear, any ideas?
Hi dontgive, the reason being… Radials do not do worth a crap in the snow on this car. It is very light in the ass end and built about the time radials came out. I want a tire with a deep tread.

A: Did you try http://tirerack.com they can deliver to a shop near you..

Q: Does a Power booster with vacuum assist help stop a ‘66 mustang better than it with just a power booster?
I currently got a ‘66 mustang V8 with Power Disc Brakes in the front.
I was wondering if buy a Power booster with vacuum assist is a better system.
Thanks

A: The Power Disc brakes get their power from a vacuum assist power booster.
It’s not a better system, it’s the same system.

Q: how much would it cost to completely restore a 66 mustang?
i have an old 66 mustang that hasnt run in years and the outside and interior are fine but it needs a new engine and all of that stuff

A: restore means put everything back to new and can cost $30-$50k, sounds like just want to recondition it..new engine, trans, rear, brakes, and mufflers can still cost quite abit, maybe $6 to $8k..

Watch how much you invest in it, it’s easy to get upside down in a coupe..keep a eye on what a nice one is selling for, maybe $15-$20K

Q: What type of leaf springs fit on a 66 mustang?
What length and size are stock on a 66 mustang???

A: www.50resto.com

go there man.

Q: I want to restore a older car is a 65-66 mustang a good choice?
I have a 289 completely rebuilt with zero miles on it. Its a dandy. Should I put it in a mustang. How much does a 65-66 cost with a bad motor?

A: they can be fun and easy to work on, plus parts are easy to get.

Some thoughts, If you get a coupe, it’s easy to get more money wraped in it than it’s worth.

Also, the 2+2 and converts are very expensive in any condition

Here is a good group to join
