Q: How much should it cost to install a rebuilt engine in a 1987 Camaro Z28?
My son has a 1987 Camaro Z28 (auto transmission) with a bad engine that can’t be repaired. I’m wondering what it should cost to have the current engine removed and rebuilt 350 engine installed. I have a price of $1,600 from a mechanic who has good references to remove the engine, rebuild a 350 engine from an existing block and install the rebuilt engine. Is this a reasonable price? What type of guarantee on parts and labor would be reasonable?
A: That actually sounds like a pretty good price if it includes parts for the rebuild. I think 1 year warranty is good enough on a rebuilt engine.
Q: How much will a used 2011 Chevy Camaro cost in the year 2016?
The camaro is my dream car. I really want it to be my first car and 2016 is the year i get my drivers license. I just want to know now what the price might be then.
A: Most cars depreciate 20-30 % the first 3 years and only about 10% each year thereafter. This all depends on how many miles they are driven and condition and how good they are maintained.
Since the new Camaro just came out in 2010 it’s hard to research how they hold their value but every time they change a major body feature they really drop the next year. Such as if they start making it with a bigger engine or offer a convertible the previous model may drop faster. This was the case with the 2004&2005 Pontiac GTO. In 2006 they started offering the 6.0 liter engine and the 2 previous years were not as valuable as the bigger engine was more desirable. Just keep looking at NADA.com and you can track it each year to see where your funds will have to be when you are ready for it. Another thing to think about is your insurance will be very high when you start driving so a muscle car like a Camaro, even a 5 year old one will be much higher than a regular sedan. Good luck!!
Q: How do i make my 98 manual Camaro sound louder?
I drive a 98 manual camaro and its so quite i just wish it was alittle bit louder sounding, i mean some of my friends drive automatics and their cars sound way louder then mine. I’m a girl so bear with me i don’t know much about cars.
A: theirs might be louder due to some slight exhaust leaks, or they might have dual exhausts..depending on the engine size..some came with V6 engines with single exhaust, where the V8 engines came with dual exhaust..You can only make the car louder with spending money…on the exhaust system, or changing the intake system, but if you want to hear how much louder it could get,, just get someone to take the O2 sensor out, then you will see just how loud it would be if you had an exhaust leak..be thankful your have a quite ride–go to exhaust professional
Q: How much does it cost to fix an ignition part on an 89 camaro?
Someone tried to steal my daughters 89 Camaro last night and they tore off the middle of her steering wheel, jacked up her ignition. We cant even get the key in it to start the car up. I was just wondering if anyone knew how much something like this is going to cost to fix. The auto shop is closed today and I just would like to know. Thanks.
A: They will probably get a used steering column from a junk yard at $100-150 (US) and another $100 for the labor. I assisted a friend replacing his steering column after an attempted theft.

Q: What after market cd players / radio will fit in a 92 camaro?
Does anyone know of any aftermarket cd players / radios that will fit into a 92 third gen camaro? I found custom cd players that were silver and had a plate that allowed you to put words on them typically “camaro” but i have been uable to find them again and any other radio that will fit into the car. Any help is appreciated thanks.
A: www.sonicelectronix.com
www.crutchfield.com
enter car info and it will tell u what fits. pay attention to the speaker size but most importantly the DEPTH. some speakers are too tall to fit in come cars. Hondas only have 2.5″ clearance and I had to use spacers for my last car.

A: should get about 19mpg if carb is not massive such as a holly 750… if quadrajet 2bbl 21mpg 4bbl 10mpg if heavy on accelorater…. have fun, i had a Z-28 great car, had to get rid of it to keep my license… raw power
Q: What car would you rather have a 1984 camaro Z28 or a 1986 pontic firebird?
The camaro is a 5.0 H.O TBI an the pontic is a 5.7 an there both are automatic trannys an with is faster from 0-60 and the 1/4 mile an wich has the better speed limit
A: I’ve ALWAYS thought Pontiac over Chevy all the way, hands down. Then you’d be an 80’s version of Smoky and the Bear. Major gas hog, get a 2nd job at nearly $4 a gallon.
Q: Why does my Camaro turn off when put in gear?
i have 91 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and everytime i power it on it, it will stay on but if i try to put it in gear it turns off. So i have to sort of warm it up a bit. But this never happened before. Air filter? Fuel filter? What can it be?
it has a new throttle body.
A: Look for a vacuum line going to a can looking thingy mounted at the side of the transmission. Disconnect it at the engine and plug the source. See if the problem stops. I don’t know if the 91 had a modulator or not.
Q: How much horsepower will this add to my camaro?

A: 5 to 10% more. 8-16hp

Q: What kind of motor should I get for my Camaro?
I have a 1987 Camaro that I want to turn into a nice street/strip type car. The current motor is the stock 305 V8. I’m thinking about switching to something between a 400 and a 454 as far as displacement goes. I don’t want to go too overboard.
A: No, no, no, no no!
Stay away from trying to cram a big block into your third gen. If you want true performance, look at transplanting an LS series engine into your Camaro. You’ll get better performance, mileage, and you won’t have to deal with the extra weight over your front tires.
